  1. Oh, my god, Christy. You must be inside my head. Firstly, these words . . . this is exactly what I’ve been feeling of late. Secondly, I just now posted on FaceBook that I had a dream last night about discovering a new picture book written by a kids’ author/illustrator I know entitled On the Road Again With Jack Kerouac.

      Admittedly, you HAVE been on my mind a lot given yesterday morning. (Sorry the frustration I caused got directed at you. I didn’t like that at all.)

      Funny thing with this quote. I’ve had it in queue for a few months but poor Jack kept getting bumped by poems that I discovered. So just last week I said, ok Jack, you’re all set. I won’t bump you anymore, promise!

      So I guess he posted exactly when he was meant to.

      It pairs well with Oliver’s poem:

      Someone I loved once gave me a box full of darkness. It took me years to understand that this too, was a gift.

  2. Chills! First the poem, then Mary’s comment.

    Just today, I wrote down the phrase “All the light we cannot see”
    It’s a working title for a post I’m building in my head. I’ll have to change the title because it belongs to a book, but the feel mirrors what you just shared from Kerouac and Mary Oliver, too.

    1. Love that title. Who says you have to change it? The play on words could be perfect.

      Or you could go the opposite… All the darkness we can see. Or even … all the dark that we can’t see.
